4/19 Boys Runner of the Week

Winner: Zee Rabi
School: Olentangy Liberty
“I’d like to redeem my underwhelming indoor season and place at the state meet”
Highlight: If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. When Zee Rabi faced adversity during his indoor season, he kept working, leading to a "Runner of the Week" performance. This past weekend, he ran a time of 4:21 in the 1600 at the Delaware Track and Field Invitational, good for the 10th-best time in the state of Ohio.
After a breakout junior track season where he ran 4:18 in the 1600 at Regionals, Rabi didn’t have the indoor season he had hoped for. While he still qualified for the indoor state meet in the 1600, he fell short of earning All-Ohio honors and wasn’t able to get within striking distance of his personal best from last outdoor season. Still, he remained optimistic and is now seeing results this outdoor season, opening with a 4:27 for a comfortable win at the Dick Dei Invitational and following it up with his "Runner of the Week" performance.
Reflecting on his race, Rabi said, “Last week taught me I can run an even race even when it gets out hot, which is very good knowledge for [the] postseason.” With his season back on track, he and his teammates have big goals ahead. He explained, “As a team we plan on winning the 4x800,” and, “individually I’d like to redeem my underwhelming indoor season and place at the state meet.” Zee will continue his season this weekend at Freedom Relays, where he will compete in the 4x1600 and 4x800. We wish him the best of luck in the rest of his season and his future running endeavors at Ohio State!
