4/19 Girls Runner of the Week

Winner: Maggie Foust
School: Marysville
“My goals for the season moving forward are to keep striving for progress and improvement”
Highlight: It was a standout night for Maggie Foust at the Delaware Track and Field Invitational, where she walked away with a pair of runner-up finishes and two new personal bests. Foust competed in both the 1600 and 3200, finishing with times of 5:14 and 11:09. She explained that she “was nervous about running the 3200 after the 1600,” but it ultimately worked out well, as she delivered a stellar performance in her second event as well.
Foust has been a strong example of consistent improvement, thanks in part to her mindset. She says, “I just try to focus on doing better than I did the race before,” which has allowed her to continually drop time across all of her events. During the indoor season, she worked her way down from 5:20 to 5:16 in the 1600, and she continued that momentum with her latest performance. Going forward, she hopes to "keep striving for progress and improvement."
In her interview, Maggie also expressed her appreciation, saying she is “very fortunate to be able to run against amazing runners who help push me to become better.” As one of the top distance runners in a stacked region, it’s great to see her finding success while competing against such strong peers. Maggie will compete at her home meet, the Monarch Relays, this weekend, and will look to qualify for the outdoor state meet in the event of her choosing, given her versatility. We wish her the best of luck for the rest of her season and as she continues her running journey at the Division 1 level with Northern Kentucky University!
