Buckeye Run Report

Winner: Charlie Guerrera
School: Dublin Jerome
Quote: “I was just running for the win… I’m gonna do my best to win each event and hopefully end my high school [career] on a good note!”
Highlight:
The senior superstar from Dublin Jerome claimed your Boys Regional Runner of the Week award after winning the 1600m in a regional meet record of 4:05.4—shattering Ben Gabelman’s 2024 mark by over four seconds—before doubling back to capture the 3200m title in 9:08. And there may still be more to come from Charlie Guerrera if he chooses to compete at a national meet.
“My goal for every race at regionals wasn’t really to run fast—I was just running for the win,” Guerrera said. If 4:05 and 9:08 aren’t his peak performances, a new state record in the 1600m (currently 4:03, set by Dustin Horter) could be within reach. Guerrera could also take a shot at Andrew Jordan’s blazing 8:46 state record in the 3200m.
The senior will continue his career at Syracuse University this fall, adding to the school’s growing pipeline of Ohio distance talent.
Whether or not he goes after a state record at nationals, Guerrera has already secured his place as one of the greatest runners in regional history—and he’s been instrumental in keeping Dublin Jerome firmly established as a distance powerhouse.
