ust a year ago, Lancaster senior Brock Jarrett finished 68th at the state meet with a time of 16:03. Fast forward to this season, and Jarrett placed 8th overall in an impressive 15:28, marking a major leap in his development as a 5K runner. This performance earns him this week’s Runner of the Week honor.

Jarrett’s progression has been steady and deliberate. Coming off a stellar track season where he placed 3rd at states in the 1600m and clocked 1:55 in the 800m, he carried that momentum into cross country. Early in the season, he set a new personal best of 15:27 at the McGowan Invitational and maintained consistent form throughout the fall, peaking perfectly at the state meet to finish just one second off his PR.

Looking ahead, Jarrett has set some ambitious track goals, stating, “My goals for the track season are to break 9:00, 1:50, and to run 4:03 or faster. I also want to run a good 4x800m at states.” Given his proven talent and work ethic, these targets are well within reach. We’ll be watching closely as Jarrett takes the track this spring. Congratulations, Brock, on an incredible cross country season!
