Week of 4/17 Runner of the Week:
Your boys’ Runner of the Week for 4/17 is Delaware Hayes’ Aaron Maus. The impressive sophomore earned your vote after running a big personal best of 1:57.42 over 800 meters to win his home Delaware Hayes Invitational. After finishing his freshman year with a personal best of 2:00.25, his continued progression early in his sophomore season shows he will be a threat in the region for years to come.
Fulton Relays:
One of several relay-exclusive meets this weekend, Fulton Relays was the most competitive. Key performances included Watkins Memorial’s 8:04 in the 4x800 and 10:41 in the DMR, capturing titles in both events. The 4x1600 featured a tight contest, with Lancaster edging out Thomas Worthington, Upper Arlington, and Dublin Scioto with a winning time of 18:38.
Highlander Invitational:
Several performances stood out at the Highlander Invitational. Dublin Jerome runners swept the distance events, with Ethan Ishida winning the 1600 in 4:27, Lincoln Kelly taking the 800 in 2:00.99, and Graham Tyler winning the 3200 in 9:37. The 3200 was the most competitive race, with three additional runners finishing under 9:45: Westerville Central’s Corbin Morrisey, Dublin Jerome’s Peter Guerrera, and Pickerington North’s Dominic Mercurio.
Other Notable Action:
While Olentangy Liberty’s Freedom Relays was smaller in size than in past years, notable performances included an 18:31 in the 4x1600 from Olentangy Liberty and a 10:44 in the DMR from Olentangy Orange. At the Marysville Monarch Relays, Westerville North impressed with a 17:56 in the 4x1600 and a 10:47 in the DMR. The Wildcat Invitational featured a Hilliard Darby masterclass, with Logan Behm and Aidan Fisher going 1–2 in the 1600, Kole Hyer winning the 800, and Venny Kurapati taking the 3200.
