Runner of the Week - Districts

Winner: Jacob Bolton  

School: Dublin Coffman  

Highlight: Jacob Bolton claimed the Central District Section 2 individual title and led his team to a strong 3rd place finish. Along the way, he defeated two of the region’s top-ranked runners, Matthew Schroff and Jeffrey Kerns, solidifying his position as one of the elite athletes in Central Ohio.

The Dublin Coffman senior has built an impressive resume throughout the season, peaking at the right moment. After finishing second to Schroff at the conference meet, Bolton saw the District Championships as his shot at redemption—and he seized it, clocking a winning time of 15:37 for his first-ever invitational victory.

"Shroff's coming up fast," were the words Bolton recalls from his coach as he powered through the final stretch near the baseball field, fighting to maintain his lead. Though he was hurting, that encouragement fueled his final push to clinch the title.

Dublin Coffman has long been a powerhouse in the region, thanks in part to senior leaders like Bolton. “My biggest goal is to help the underclassmen grow and become fierce contenders for future seasons,” Bolton shared. While Coffman is expected to finish just outside the bubble at Regionals, this weekend will likely mark the final race for most of the team, with Bolton leading the charge.

Bolton credits his coaches and teammates for helping him get to this point. As he gears up for the final races of his high school career, he has one major goal in mind: “I’d love to finish in the top ten at states.” With the fierce competition at the D1 race, it won’t be an easy feat, but if Bolton can carry his momentum, he could finish his career with one more major accomplishment.
