Matchup of the week 4/25

Girls Matchup of the Week: 4x1600 relay at Olentangy Liberty’s Freedom Relays
Our girls’ matchup of the week for 4/25 is the 4x1600 at the Freedom Relays. It will feature several strong teams, including Dublin Jerome (McBrearty, Wynk, Watson, Fouts), Centerville (Fry, Sorensen, Drylie, Drylie), Olentangy Orange (Conforti, Case, Pachko, Chapman), and Olentangy Liberty (Miller, Shah, Bachmann, Aldrink). It should be a close race. Jerome and Centerville both bring strong depth, but Orange’s 1-2 punch of Chapman and Conforti will be tough to beat. I think it will come down to a battle between Natalie Fouts and Brooke Chapman on the anchor leg, with Chapman ultimately squeezing out the win.
Boys Matchup of the Week: 4x1600 at Olentangy Liberty’s Freedom Relays
Our boys’ matchup of the week for 4/25 is the 4x1600 at the Freedom Relays. This is shaping up to be a great one. Top teams include Olentangy Orange (Allender, Sivakumar, Kandhari, Schroff), Centerville (Kaheal, Noel, Porter, Emmert), Olentangy Liberty (Rabi, Perez, Perry, Kimberly), and Dublin Jerome (Ishida, Tyler, Kelly, Guerrera). Realistically, if they can all stay together, each of these teams has a shot at breaking 18:00. It’ll likely come down to the final leg, with Orange and Centerville having an advantage thanks to studs Schroff and Emmert on anchor. Jerome and Liberty should get out to a hot start, with Gordon Kimberly’s mile speed on the anchor leg likely being tested and the younger Guerrera likely needing to hold off the field with a solid lead. As long as Orange can stay close through the first three legs, they are my pick to win, anchored by the indoor state champion.
