About the candidates:
Ty Munroe (Olentangy)
After the graduation of his All-American 4x800 relay teammates last spring, Olentangy senior Ty Munroe rose to the challenge in his final season. He dropped his open 800 personal best from 1:57.62 to 1:54.12 and helped lead his team to a regional appearance in the 4x800. He also contributed to a 4th-place finish in the 4x400 at the OHSAA State Championships, capping off a strong senior campaign.
Brock Jarrett (Lancaster)
Like Munroe, Lancaster junior Brock Jarrett stepped into a leadership role following the departure of key teammates. He made a massive leap in the 1600, improving from 4:28 to 4:10 over the course of the season. His breakthrough culminated in a 3rd-place finish at the Division I State Championships, establishing him as one of Ohio’s elite milers.
Kole Hyer (Hilliard Darby)
Hilliard Darby junior Kole Hyer had one of the biggest improvements of the season in the 1600. After entering the spring with a personal best of 4:39, he dropped an incredible 22 seconds, finishing the year at 4:17 following a breakout performance at the district meet. His progress puts him firmly in the mix heading into next year.
Aadi Joshi (Olentangy Liberty)
Olentangy Liberty senior Aadi Joshi played a key role in his team’s 7:44 4x800 relay performance and showed major growth individually. He lowered his open 800 personal best from 1:57.83 to 1:53.54 during the outdoor season, rounding out his high school career with a strong finish.
