About the candidates:
Brock Jarrett – The Lancaster senior opened his outdoor season with a 4:18.47 in the Stingel Invite 1600, earning the win in a stacked field. This mark currently ranks third in the state and puts him less than half a second behind Eli Ilg and Max Friedrich — two of Ohio’s premier distance runners.
Gabe McNeil – Joining teammate Brock Jarrett on this week’s list of nominees is the sophomore mid-distance standout. In his first-ever outdoor 800-meter race, McNeil won the Stingel Invite in 1:57.86, adding even more momentum to the Lancaster 4x800 hype train.
Lincoln Kelly – In a major breakout race, the Dublin Jerome junior won the Hilliard Premier 3200 with a personal best of over 10 seconds, clocking in at 9:28. His performance adds to an already loaded Jerome distance lineup that will give opposing runners nightmares as they look to secure regional qualifying spots.
Tate Ruthers – Rounding out our nominees is Southeast District star Tate Ruthers, who put together a strong double at the Stingel Invite. He placed third in both stacked fields of the 1600 and 3200, running 4:22 and 9:25, respectively.
