About the candidates:
Mick Temple: The Pickerington North junior showed out at conferences, winning both the 1600 and 3200—neither of which were particularly close. He ran an impressive solo 4:14 in the 1600, then followed it up with a 9:27 in the 3200, keeping Austin Benedict at a comfortable distance for the entire race.
Gavin Swain: The Gahanna Lincoln freshman broke 4:30 in the 1600 for the first time in dramatic fashion, running 4:24 to finish third in the conference.
Anton Shishlo: The Hilliard Bradley junior finished runner-up in the OCC Central 1600, running 4:22 for a big personal best.
Lavon Wilborn: Something must have been in the water at New Albany for the OCC Ohio Division—this marks our third nominee from that conference. In a stunning sequence of events, the New Albany sophomore upset reigning indoor state champion Owen Towler to win the 800 with a massive PR of 1:55.19.
