About the candidates:
Tate Ruthers - The Sheridan senior earned the Section 1 individual title with a time of 15:17, beating another top-four individual in the region, Mick Temple. Ruthers is solidifying his status as a dark horse for the regional and even state championship.
Jacob Bolton - The Dublin Coffman senior won his first-ever invitational in Section 2, outkicking Jeffery Kerns and decisively defeating Matthew Schroff.
Justin Rona - The Hilliard Davidson senior had a breakout race in Section 1, defeating several top runners in the region, including Jacob Reash, Mulu Ferguson, and Owen Towler, while running a personal best of 15:45.
Owen Kockentiet - The Dublin Scioto senior delivered a standout performance in Section 3, breaking 16 minutes and finishing in under 15:50 both for the first time. By besting New Albany’s Marcus Speed and Austin Benedict, he helped Dublin Scioto secure district runner-up honors as a team.
