About the candidates:
Natalie Fouts – Although she was a nominee last week, it was impossible to leave Dublin Jerome’s Natalie Fouts off the list after her stunning performance at the state meet. Fouts pulled off a major upset in the 3200 meter run, defeating both Marisa Heil and Elena Aldrink to capture her first state title with a nearly 15-second personal best of 10:36.
Celia Schulte – Ohio’s top female distance runner continued to showcase her dominance with two first-place finishes at the state meet. The Hilliard Davidson junior first anchored the Lady Wildcats to a US #5 finish in the 4x800 meter relay, then returned to earn a commanding victory in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.20.
Bella Conforti – The Olentangy Orange sophomore delivered a breakout performance in the 3200 meter run, slashing over 25 seconds off her personal best to finish fourth overall in a time of 10:43.
Elena Aldrink – Although she came up short in her bid for a second state title in the 3200 meter run, Olentangy Liberty junior Elena Aldrink still turned in an impressive performance. She placed third with a time of 10:40, continuing to solidify her status as one of the state’s top distance runners.
