About the candidates:
Celia Schulte: After an off week at regionals, Schulte bounced back in a major way. She recorded her second-fastest 5k time of the season, placing 16th and earning Second Team All-Ohio honors, which contributed to the Wildcats’ runner-up team finish.
Harper Allen: Allen delivered a standout performance at states, achieving a personal record by over 15 seconds en route to a 17th-place finish. She earned Second Team All-Ohio honors and played a key role in helping the Gales secure their first cross-country state title.
Kaitlyn Van Zandt: The freshman phenom finished just behind Schulte and Allen, placing 18th with a new personal best. She was the highest-placing freshman in the Division 1 state meet for both boys and girls, showcasing a promising future.
Minori Hudson: Hudson has been on an absolute tear the last two weeks. Before regionals, she had never broken 19 minutes in the 5k. After breaking 19 for the first time at regionals and narrowly qualifying for states, the senior capped off her season with an incredible 20-second personal best, finishing 34th in the state, just shy of All-State honors.
