Ashland University HS Light Giver Open: Lancaster started the meet strong in the 4x800, clocking an impressive 8:11.70, proving that their tradition of formidable relay teams isn’t ending anytime soon. Mick Temple continued his stellar season with another sub-4:20 performance, running 4:19.64. A group of Central Ohio runners followed closely behind, including Bradyn Allender (4:28.52), Gabe Wise (4:29.18), Vansh Sethi (4:29.56), Lavon Wilborn (4:30.53), and Mckinley Norman (4:31.73).
In the 800, the most significant results came from Dylan Willis and Lavon Wilborn, both clocking strong 2:02 performances. Freshman phenom Austin Benedict dominated the 3200 with a winning time of 9:40.25, while Gordon Kimberly also broke 9:50 with a 9:47.35.
SPIRE Scholastic Showcase Meet 2025: While Central Ohio didn’t have as much representation on the boys' side at SPIRE, those who did compete posted impressive marks. Olentangy Liberty kicked off the day with a stellar 8:05.77 in the 4x800. Matthew Schroff delivered a standout performance in the 1600, finishing in 4:18.56—another top mark in the state rankings. Dylan Winters impressed with a 1:57.37 in the 800, while Justin Rona ran a solid 9:42.03 in the 3200.
Other Action: The only other state-qualifying mark across the state from Central Ohio came from Owen Towler, who ran 4:24.88 at Ohio State.
