1/23 Boys Indoor Recap

Otterbein: The highlight of the weekend for Central Ohio boys was the 1600m at Otterbein's second invite of the year. Led by cross country regional champion Charlie Guerrera and a display of depth from the Celtics, some of the top times in the state were run. Guerrera took home the win in 4:21, good for the current #2 time in the state. It didn’t come easily, though, as teammates Ethan Ishida and Graham Tyler both ran in the 4:22 range, earning the current #5 and #6 marks in Ohio. The race saw four more Central Ohio boys dip under the 4:40 mark, including Cayden McClure (4:33), Ashton Boyd (4:38), Bradyn Allender (4:38), and Logan Behm (4:39). The boys’ 800m was much quieter but saw Austyn Fox of Big Walnut take home the win in 2:02.8. The boys’ 3200m didn’t offer much excitement either but was won by Dublin Coffman senior Jacob Bolton in 10:20.
Around the State: Aside from Otterbein, no other invite stood out this past weekend for the boys. The remainder of this article highlights the current top-50 marks run by Central Ohio boys this past weekend, starting with the duo from Olentangy Liberty at Akron. Zied Rabi and Louis Perry teamed up to run marks of 4:29 and 4:30, placing them 23rd and 26th in the state, respectively.
Next, we head up to Michigan. While the girls stole the show, Evan Graessle of Saint Charles ran a 2:03.8. With a PR of 2:01.6, he currently sits 29th in the state rankings. Finally, over at the Chieftain Center, Lancaster’s top runner Brock Jarret ran a 2:01.7, currently placing him 31st in the state. In the 3200m, Andrew Perry of Logan ran a 10:02 (OH #26).
With another weekend of racing down, the indoor state qualifying picture is slowly beginning to take shape.
