1600m Pre-Track Season Rankings: Boys

(Disclaimer: These rankings are based on our projection of each individual’s main event.)
Charlie Guerrera - Guerrera’s switch to the 1600 last track season proved fruitful, as he broke 4:10 on multiple occasions and placed 4th at the outdoor state meet. The Dublin Jerome senior and Syracuse commit will look to continue the legacy of his future teammate Ben Gabelman and claim the 1600 state title this spring.
Matthew Schroff - Schroff is incredibly close to the top spot, serving more as a 1B to Guerrera’s 1A. The Olentangy Orange senior finished ahead of Guerrera by one place at the state meet last spring, but his 1600 personal best is slightly slower, and he was outperformed by Guerrera during cross country. Nonetheless, he remains a strong contender for the state title.
Mick Temple - Temple had a standout sophomore track season, running 4:13 on multiple occasions and qualifying for the state meet through an at-large bid. With a healthy offseason, the Pickerington North junior is poised to make waves at the state meet this track season.
Zee Rabi - The Olentangy Liberty senior had a breakout year last season, improving his personal best by over 10 seconds to achieve a season-best of 4:18.23. After a solid cross country season, he is set to push for a state meet qualification in 2025.
Mack Weithman - The Marysville junior showed the greatest improvement among athletes on this list last track season, running 4:17.70 at districts. While his cross country season was not as strong as those of other runners in this ranking, he is still well-positioned to compete for a state-qualifying spot.
Jacob Reash - As one half of the DeSales senior dynamic duo, Reash holds a personal best of 4:19.93, achieved with a gutsy finish at districts to qualify for regionals last track season. Following an impressive cross country season, he is on the bubble to qualify for states.
Casey Carlos - The talented Westerville North junior has positioned himself well in the 1600 after breaking 4:30 as a freshman. He holds a personal best of 4:22.76 and, after a state-qualifying season in cross country, should see even more improvement.
Mulu Ferguson - Despite an up-and-down cross country season, the Thomas Worthington senior has substantial potential in this event. He boasts a personal best of 4:22.75 from districts last season and will aim to earn all-region honors this spring.
Graham Tyler - Joining his teammate Charlie Guerrera in the top 10 is Dublin Jerome junior Graham Tyler. He has a personal best of 4:22.09 from districts last season and will also push for all-region honors.
Eli Baxter - Rounding out our top 10 is Olentangy Berlin senior Eli Baxter. While his cross country season may not have gone as well as he had hoped, he still holds an impressive personal best of 4:24.37 from the Delaware County Invitational and will fight to bounce back during track season.
We’re very disappointed in clear oversight. Casey Carlos’s Pr is 4:18.62 not 4:22.76!
