4x800m Pre-Track Season Rankings: Girls

Hilliard Davidson: The top-ranked team in our rankings comes as no surprise. Heading into this year, the Wildcats boast the best returning core of 4x800 runners in the region. They are led by Furman commit Celia Schulte, the top returning 800m runner in the state, with an impressive personal best of 2:08.97. Emi Schroyer follows closely with a stellar PR of 2:14.12, making her one of the region’s top returning 800m runners as well. Additionally, the team returns Gemma Pusateri, who holds an 800m PR of 2:18.97. Rounding out their squad is Ashley Alsko, with a personal best of 2:21.75—faster than many teams’ best 800m runners. This Davidson squad will be nearly impossible to beat during track season.
Dublin Jerome: While it’s challenging to match the strength of Davidson’s 4x800 squad, Jerome’s team remains highly competitive. They are led by Helen Randolph and Abbie McBrearty, both boasting personal bests of 2:18. Supporting this dynamic duo are Ella Watson and Natalie Fouts, who round out the squad with impressive personal bests of 2:21.61 and 2:24.82, respectively.
Olentangy Liberty: The Liberty girls squad sits comfortably at third in our rankings. They are led by Bridgit Snider, who has an excellent personal best of 2:17.72 and ranks among the top returners in the region. Supporting her are Katie Boettcher, Hannah Spires, and Ava Legates, all with personal bests under 2:30—2:24.97, 2:25.31, and 2:28.79, respectively.
Lancaster: The reigning state cross country champions return a strong group of runners for the 4x800 this season. Leading the way is senior standout Marisa Heil, who boasts a personal best of 2:12.36, ranking among the top three returning PRs in the region. Supporting her are Harper Allen (2:26.85), Dorka Tatar (2:30.78), and Ava Parrett (2:35.83), making this squad a formidable contender.
Olentangy Orange: Similar to Lancaster, Orange is anchored by one of the top three returning 800m runners in the region, Brooke Chapman, who holds a stellar personal best of 2:13.42 and was last year’s outdoor 1600m state champion. She is joined by Clea Case (2:26.95), Bella Conforti (2:27.75), and Cat Szasz (2:34.80), creating a well-rounded and competitive team.
Worthington Kilbourne: The Wolves are led by senior Ellie Meek, who has an impressive personal best of 2:19.21. Completing their 4x800 lineup are Naomi Hoover (2:26.38), Abigail Gerschutz (2:29.29), and Sarah Lundine (2:32.25), forming a competitive team.
Upper Arlington: Upper Arlington brings back a solid group of runners, led by sophomore standout Josie Cox, who holds a personal best of 2:24.39. Supporting Cox is a talented trio of juniors—Peyton Burton (2:25.23), Morgan Hamilton (2:27.75), and Hellen Griffith (2:30.37)—making this squad a strong contender.
Bishop Watterson: The Eagles feature a solid junior trio in Addie Reineck, Samantha Schmiesing, and Lili Gatz, with personal bests ranging from 2:26 to 2:31. Rounding out the relay is fellow junior Gretchen McGowan, who has a personal best of 2:36.99, adding depth to their lineup.
Marysville: Senior standout Marguerite Foust leads the Monarchs with a strong personal best of 2:20.78. Supporting her are Lyla Channell (2:26.59), Ava Mordhorst (2:30.00), and Cameron Cave (2:33.11), forming a well-rounded and competitive squad.
Delaware Hayes: Rounding out our top ten is the 4x800 relay team from Delaware Hayes. Abigail Boey leads the Pacers with a personal best of 2:24.00, followed by Reghan Gist (2:28.92) and Cali Kent (2:31.27). The final spot is likely to be filled by either Addison Reed (2:34.92) or Leila Skosples (2:35.48), giving the team good depth.
Honorable Mention - Gahanna Lincoln: The Lady Lions narrowly missed making our list based on their current times on paper. However, with a solid core of Abigail Young, Rebecca Shope, Olivia Smeck, Ruby Lewis, and Mckenzie Kemp—combined with a strong tradition of assembling competitive 4x800 teams—Gahanna Lincoln could be a sleeper team to watch for potential upsets during track season.
