Buckeye Run Report
Final Individiual Girls Rankings

Brooke Chapman - It should come as no surprise that the Regional champ and now State runner up, Brooke Chapman, ends the rankings in the #1 spot. She’s been lights out all year, taking home 4 individual victories and her lowest finish all year being 3rd. Not only has she been consistently dominant but she peaked at the perfect time, claiming the District and Regional titles before being the first Central Ohio runner across the line at Fortress Obetz, second overall to only Daniella Scheffler. Should we see Chapman in action again this postseason, she’ll be battling at the front for a national qualifying spot.
Marisa Heil - One of this year's breakout runners was Marisa Heil, who after not breaking the 18 minute barrier last year, she bested that mark in the final 7 races of this year. Heil was also consistently dominant, finishing no worse than 4th all year, and peaked at the perfect time, running a PR of 17:12 for a 3rd place finish at this year's State Championships. Heil not only saw individual success but was the Lancaster Golden Gales top runner and led them to this year's team state title. Last year Heil won her open race at Nike Cross Regionals, and this year she’ll look to contend for a national qualifying spot in the Championship race.
Elena Aldrink - Aldrink’s 4th place finish at this year's State Championships was her lowest finish all year, showcasing how good she's been. Not only did she take home a 4th place finish but she did so in a PR of 17:23. Her season started with 3 consecutive individual victories and later in the season she added Conference and District champion to her list of victories this year. If she elects to continue her incredible season we have every reason to believe she’ll be at the front of whatever race she’s in.
Erica Kaulen - The Hilliard Davidson Junior, and leader of the national caliber Wildcats, achieved a major career goal this past weekend when she took home a top 10th finish at the State Championships. Her time of 17:50 was a PR, showing she’s peaking at the perfect time. With Nike Cross Regionals next on the schedule she’ll look to lead her Wildcats not only to topping in state foe Lancaster, but into a Nike Cross National qualifying spot.
Natalie Fouts - The senior from Dublin Jerome ran her last race in Ohio for the Celtics, and made sure to make it a good one, taking home another top 10th finish at the cross country state meet. Her blazing fast PR of 17:22 from the Celtic Clash proves she can run with the best, and she’ll look to improve upon last year's 42nd place finish at Nike Cross Regionals.
Bella Conforti - Acting as the best #2 runner in the state, Olentangy Orange Sophomore Bella Conforti played a pivotal role in Oranges year long team success. She PR’d at fortress Obetz, running 17:52, en route to an 11th place finish. Conforti will look to continue her success alongside teammate Brooke Chapman if the duo elects to compete again this season.
Celia Schulte - After faltering at the Regional Championships, Celia Schulte bounced back in a major way at the State Championships and is this week's largest riser. After a disappointing 50th place finish at regionals, she clocked an 18:04 at Fortress Obetz, good enough to finish 16th in the state. Her season will continue at the upcoming Nike Cross Regionals championship race where she’ll look to team up with Erica Kaulen and earn the Wildcats a berth to Nike Cross Nationals.
Harper Allen - Another one of the states premier #2 runners is Harper Allen. She ran a PR of 18:07 at his past weekend State Championships and took home a 17th place finish while playing a major role in helping her Gales take home the team state title. He emergence as a stud #2 runners has been vital in the Gales' rise to the top, and they’ll need another great race from her at Nike Cross Regionals to have a chance at making Nike Cross Nationals as a team.
Kaitlyn Van Zandt - Time and time again the Bishop Watterson Freshman has impressed in the big races, and she proved once more that the lights are never too bright for this superstar in the making. On the biggest stage so far this year, Van Zandt ran a PR and took home an 18th place finish in her first State Championship race of her career. Van Zandt’s future is extremely bright, and we hope to see her gain national postseason experience within the next few weeks.
Mia Eberhardt - Finishing out our top 10 is Pickerington North Senior Mia Eberhardt, who grabbed her first All Ohio XC honors this past weekend at Fortress Obetz. Eberhardt broke out with a 3rd place finish at the District Championships and remained a big player the rest of the year. She was the Panthers lone state qualifier this year on the girls side.
Lainey Fauth - Fauth put together an extremely solid season, and established herself as a key player not only in the region but in the state during her Sophomore campaign. She unfortunately will not have great memories from the Fortress Obetz course, as she only finished outside the top 10 in 2 races this year: The early season state invite and this past weekend's State Championships. Fauth will look to build on this season next year with even bigger goals.
Lydia Price - Price ripped off 8 consecutive invitational victories in the middle of her Junior year and posted solid performances all post season. With a PR of 18:25 this weekend, Price earned a 26th place finish in her first State Championship appearance. She’s improved greatly year over year and we’re excited to see what Price will produce this track season and next year.
Marguerite Foust - A somewhat disappointing day at the State Championships won’t take away from what’s been an incredible season for the Marysville Senior. It was a breakout year that saw her run a PR of 18:30 while collecting numerous top 10 finishes, including at the Regional Championships. Foust will look to build on this momentum and become a key player in the upcoming track season.
Reese Galinger - Galinger put together a steady season in the early going, before turning it on in the postseason and becoming a key piece in the postseason picture. She acted as Teays valley #2 runner all year up until the regional meet when teammate Katy Zang went down injured. Had Zang stayed healthy, Galinger would’ve been a pivotal scorer in team battle. She’s just a sophomore and her 33rd place finish at the State Championships should be a sign of more great things to come.
Josie Cox - The Upper Arlington Junior put together a strong season, and qualified to the State Championships with a 20th place finish at regionals. She took advantage of her qualifying position by putting together the best race of her young career. She clocked a PR of 18:30 while finishing 31st. Now that she’s gained some big meet experience, she’ll become a force over the next 2 years.
Brooke Derringer - Arguably the difference maker in what was a tight battle for the team state title, Derringer put together the best race of her career on the biggest stage and helped her Lancaster Gales take home the state title. Her 18:30 PR at Fortress Obetz gave the Gales the point separation on Hilliard Davidson’s #3 scorer that ultimately decided the battle. Derringer has put together an incredible season as just a freshman and the Gales will look to her for another clutch performance in hopes of qualifying to Nike Cross Nationals.
Kaylen Goss - Although it was ultimately a disappointing finish to the Sophomores season at the State Championships, that does not overshadow her breakout year. She brought her PR down to 18:45 and qualified for her first State Championships. She’ll look to build upon this breakout in track season and take this year's experience to turn herself into a key player in the state conversation over the next 2 years.
Sophia Tartaglia - The Wildcat Sophomore burst onto the scene at the District Championships, taking home a 5th place finish in a PR of 18:33, and even took home our runner of the week honors that week. Unfortunately she wasn’t able to back up that race at the Regional or State Championships. If the girls from Davidson want to qualify for Nike Cross Nationals, it will take another District type of performance from the young sophomore to get them there. With that being said, it has been a very successful season for Tartaglie, and she’ll look to continue the Wildcats dominance over the next couple years.
Minori Hudson - It was a bit of an up and down season for the Dublin Coffman Senior, but she ultimately peaked at the perfect time, running a PR of 18:35 and placing 35th at the State Championships. Hudson barely scraped by the Regional Championships, placing 23rd (24 qualify), but capitalized on her opportunity. She will look to build upon this momentum come track season.
Ruby Lewis - Rounding out our top 20 is Gahanna Lincoln Sophomore Ruby Lewis. While it wasn’t quite the race she would’ve been hoping for at the State Championships, placing 57th, she led her Lady Lions to a top 10 team finish at Fortress Obetz. It’s been a breakout year for Lewis which saw her run a PR of 18:34 and find lots of consistency. She’ll look to come back even stronger next season.
