Buckeye Run Report
Final Individual Boys Rankings

Charlie Guerrera - Dublin Jerome senior Charlie Guerrera ends the season as our top-ranked runner from Central Ohio. Though he didn’t improve upon his 15:10 season opener at the Hot Summer Bash, Guerrera remained consistently dominant against Central Ohio competition, losing only once all season (at the Berlin Bear Den Dash). At this past weekend's State Championships, Guerrera finished 9th. While he may feel disappointed by that result, he was still Central Ohio's top finisher. If he chooses to continue his season at a national postseason meet, we expect him to bounce back and challenge near the front.
Tate Ruthers - Sheridan senior Tate Ruthers put together a strong season and solidified himself as the region's clear #2 runner. He did beat Charlie Guerrera head-to-head at the Berlin Bear Den Dash, though that was the only time he bested him. Following a District title and a Regional runner-up finish, he placed 10th at the State Championships, making him Central Ohio’s #2 runner. We hope to see Ruthers in action again this postseason and expect another great race from him if he chooses to compete.
Matthew Schroff - Matthew Schroff holds the fastest PR in the region, clocking 15:08 at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational, yet he ranks third on our list. After slipping to a 10th-place finish at Regionals, he rebounded with an 11th-place finish at the State Championships, making him Central Ohio’s #3 runner. With teammate Bradyn Allender in peak form, we’re intrigued to see what they can accomplish together if they opt for a postseason race.
Mick Temple - Mick Temple’s season may not have gone as planned, but he still delivered a commendable year, given his challenges. Recovering from an injury that delayed his training, Temple managed a strong season, including a 3rd place finish at Regionals and 16th at the State Championships. With more time to train fully, we’re excited to see what he can achieve at a national postseason meet, should he compete.
Bradyn Allender - Olentangy Orange senior Bradyn Allender forms the region's top duo with teammate Matthew Schroff. Allender peaked over the past two races, significantly raising his rank. After a breakout 15:37 PR for 4th place at Regionals, he went on to finish 15th at State with a time of 15:28. If he can carry this momentum into another race, Allender and Schroff will be a formidable duo wherever they decide to compete.
Charles Rizek - Charles Rizek’s season didn’t end as he’d hoped, but he was consistently strong all year alongside teammate Jacob Reash. Despite finishing 59th at State, Rizek took 6th at Regionals and ran a PR of 15:30 at the Central Ohio Invitational. We look forward to seeing him lead the DeSales duo one last time if he competes in a national postseason meet.
Jacob Bolton - Jacob Bolton heated up at the right time, winning his District Championship and finishing 5th at Regionals. Despite a disappointing 63rd place at State, Bolton’s postseason performance keeps him in the 7th spot on our list.
Marcus Speed - New Albany senior Marcus Speed caught fire this postseason, placing 2nd at the OCC Ohio race, 4th at Districts, 8th at Regionals, and 23rd at State, making him Central Ohio’s 6th runner. His well-timed peak bodes well for the track season.
Jeffery Kerns - Leading the Regional Champion Westerville North Warriors, senior Jeffery Kerns PR’d with a 15:36 at State, finishing 29th to lead his team as Central Ohio’s top squad. His postseason included an OCC title and District runner-up finish, and he will look to lead the Warriors into the national postseason.
Jacob Reash - Senior Jacob Reash, the second runner in DeSales' duo, had a strong regular and early postseason. He set a PR of 15:36 at the Central Ohio Invite, shared the CCL title, and finished 14th at Regionals before placing 56th at State.
Austin Benedict - Freshman Austin Benedict impressed as the top underclassman, gaining invaluable big meet experience. He faced challenges in the larger races but is expected to come back stronger next year.
McKinley Norman - Dublin Scioto’s Mckinley Norman experienced an up-and-down season but highlighted it with a PR of 15:41 and a 12th place at Regionals. He placed 61st at State, capping off a solid senior year.
Casey Carlos - Westerville North’s #2 runner, Casey Carlos, was crucial to their success, finishing 46th at State and helping the Warriors finish as Central Ohio’s top team.
Cayden McClure - Primarily Dublin Jerome’s #3 runner, Cayden McClure stepped up as the #2 scorer at State, finishing 49th after teammate Ethan Ishida’s off day.
Brock Jarrett - Brock Jarrett timed his peak well, winning his OCC title and placing 13th at Regionals. He finished 68th at State to conclude a strong junior season.
Gabe Wise - Westerville North’s #3 runner Gabe Wise had a standout Regional race with a 15th-place finish and PR of 15:51. After an off day at State, he’ll aim to finish the season strong.
Owen Towler - Gahanna Lincoln’s 800m specialist Owen Towler had a PR of 15:39 and an 11th place at Regionals but did not finish at State. We’re looking forward to his upcoming senior track season.
Ashton Boyd - Ashton Boyd made the top 20 for the first time, supporting DeSales' success as the #3 man. His PR of 15:59 and finishes at Regionals and State hint at strong potential for track season.
Justin Rona - Senior Justin Rona from Hilliard Davidson had his best race with a PR of 15:45 at Districts but struggled to replicate that success at Regionals and State.
Gordon Kimberly - Rounding out our top 20 is Olentangy Liberty’s Gordon Kimberly. After a surprising 9th place at Regionals, he placed 83rd at State. With more consistency, he’s set for a strong track season ahead.
