Winner: Abigail Young

Quote: “Looking ahead, I plan to keep working hard and growing until I reach my goals”
Highlight:
It was a standout day for Gahanna Lincoln junior Abigail Young at the regional meet, where she placed eighth overall and helped lead her team to a regional title as their second scorer. After an impressive season that included an 18:04 finish at the Celtic Clash and a third-place finish in her conference, Young impressed once again with her breakout performance at regionals. Reflecting on her race, she shared, “My race at regionals went especially well. I had just begun tapering earlier in the week, hoping to set myself up for a strong performance.” Indeed she did, defeating many marquee names in the region.
As of November 5th, Young continued her postseason success, finishing 11th at the OHSAA State Meet and scoring second for her state title–winning team. Reflecting on that performance, she said, “Winning the state championship means so much to me and has given me a huge boost of confidence to keep showing up and pushing myself every day.”
As the second-highest returning finisher at the state meet, Young has a chance to contend for Gahanna’s first individual state title since the legendary Alyssa Shope. With a strong returning core around her next season, the Lady Lions are sure to impress once again.
