Week of 2/22 Boys Review

Ashland High School High Performance Invite: Aside from a few other meets, this was the last major opportunity for top runners to secure a high-ranking mark. With excitement building for the final qualifying weekend, this meet did not disappoint. The event kicked off with impressive performances in the 4x800, where Gahanna and Marysville posted times of 8:06 and 8:08, respectively. Hilliard Davidson, Westerville Central, and Lancaster also delivered solid performances, finishing in 8:27, 8:28, and 8:28.
The 1600 was stacked, with eight Central Ohio Division 1 runners breaking 4:30. Charlie Guerrera led the way with an impressive 4:14, followed by several other Central Ohio competitors under 4:20, including Graham Tyler, Brock Jarrett, Mick Temple, and Matthew Schroff. Cayden McClure, Owen Towler, and Zee Rabi also dipped under 4:30. In the 800, five Central Ohio Division 1 runners clocked 2:00 or faster, with Ty Munroe running 1:56.69, followed by Lavon Wilborn (1:58.03), Jacob Ogilbee (1:59.60), Aadi Joshi (2:00.17), and Sam Brockbank (2:00.78).
The 3200 featured six Central Ohio Division 1 runners under 9:40. Bradyn Allender and Ethan Ishida both finished just under 9:30, followed by Gordon Kimberly, McKinley Norman, and Austin Benedict, who all hovered just above that mark. Lincoln Kelly also snuck under 9:40, putting him on the bubble for a state qualification.
Kent State HS Meet #5: While not as competitive as the Ashland meet on Friday, the Kent State qualifier still produced some notable results. Hilliard Darby saw strong performances from Ryan Fisher (4:30.51 in the 1600), Brendan Steele (1:58.22 in the 800), and Logan Behm (9:26.28 in the 3200). Gabe Wise and Kyle Hughes also delivered solid marks in the 800, finishing in 1:59.97 and 2:00.86, respectively.
