Week of 2/8 Girls Breakdown

SPIRE Scholastic Showcase Meet 2025: Taking place on Saturday, this was undoubtedly the meet of the week on the girls’ side for Central Ohio. Many of the state’s best competitors threw down incredible times in the 1600, with Celia Schulte running 4:55.79—the 16th fastest time in the nation this year. Beyond Schulte, last year’s champion, Brooke Chapman, also comfortably broke 5, running 4:57.70. Marisa Heil added an impressive 5:04.74. Davidson had three other runners break 5:20 in this meet—Gemma Pusateri, Mackenzie Kline, and Ashley Alsko. Coffman’s Minor Hudson finished shortly behind them with a 5:22.56.

Many of those top competitors then doubled back in the 800. Brooke Chapman ran 2:18.92, and Marisa Heil clocked 2:20.14. Other Central Ohio standouts included Emi Schroyer (2:22.93), Bridget Snider (2:23.47), and Minori Hudson (2:24.19). In the 3200, Erica Kaulen posted an impressive 10:56.99, with her teammates Anna Gagliano and Laney Tarr each running 11:43, adding to Davidson’s dominant day.

Ashland University HS Light Giver Open: While not quite at the level of SPIRE, there were still some standout performances at Ashland on Sunday. In the 1600, Bella Conforti broke 5:10 with a 5:09.92, while Pickerington North 7th grader Maddie Hobbs ran 5:27.87. She’ll surely be a name to watch once she reaches the high school level. In the 800, Tiffany Zuehlke ran 2:22.65, and Bella Conforti doubled back with a 2:24.69. There weren’t many notable results in the 3200, but freshman Kyla Benedict took the win with an 11:28.62.

Other Action: Mount Vernon hosted a relatively small meet, but Lainey Fauth still impressed with an 11:30.85 in the 3200. Hilliard Darby and Thomas Worthington also ran nearly identical 10:26’s in the 4x800, which sit as the 16th and 17th fastest times in the state for Division 1. At Ohio State, Lyla Channell ran 2:27.49 in the 800.
