Winner: Liam Irvin
School: Gahanna Lincoln
Quote: “I got out hard from the moment the gun went off and put myself right in the lead pack… This race showed me I have more to give this season… My goals are to qualify for states in November and hopefully break the school record before the season is over."
Highlight:
The Celtic Clash is known for producing PRs across Central Ohio, and Gahanna Lincoln junior Liam Irvin capitalized on the opportunity, earning this week’s Runner of the Week award. Irvin ran a 31-second PR, clocking 15:50 for a 13th-place finish. He never doubted his ability to compete, saying, “I reminded myself that I’ve trained for this and was more than capable of running with those guys.” Irvin explained that he went out with the front pack and stayed composed throughout the race.
Irvin has big goals for the remainder of the season. “My goals are to qualify for states in November and hopefully break the school record before the season is over.” With a new benchmark PR under 16 minutes, he’ll certainly be in the mix at regionals to contend for a state-qualifying spot. He’ll also aim to lead his Gahanna Lions squad to a top-7 finish, which would secure their ticket to Fortress Obetz. Keep an eye on Irvin and the Lions at Pickerington North when the regional championships arrive.

hey it’s Liam’s grandma!
Little Liams all big now. running fast. I used to run with him... but now all I can do Is watch. Ever since I lost my ability to run, he has been running for me. And boy is he making his old man proud. keep going Liam, Pops is cheering you on!!
Ever since Santa picked me to watch the Irving household I knew liam was special. He was always so thankful and grateful for all his gift, every mornign form my secret spot, I watched him wake up and get right to work. No suprise that liam got this award, Santa will definitely hear about this!! Someone will be on the nice list this year!!!
When Liam Irvin was younger his parents brought home a scruffy dog named Ferdinand. Every morning they raced with Ferdinand running ahead and stopping to wait for Liam, almost like cheering him on. Over time, Liam grew faster, and by the school track meet, he ran his best race—and won—hugging Ferdinand at the finish line. I remember it like it’s yesterday
Liam used to be very silly but ever sense he started to be good at running his whole aura just shifted and now he mogs 24/7
Woof woof ur the best owner ever woof woof congrats liam! More belly rubs for me tonight?
It wasn’t always easy for Liam growing up. As a kid he struggled to express his emotions, leading to big tantrums all the way through freshman year. We thought he’d never figure it out, we even though he might be a little challenged mentally. We got all the tests done and everything, autism, Down syndrome, you name it. Who would’ve thought all along he just needed running. Mommas proud of you kiddo!
Liam so nonchalant and cute and cute and just handsome and wow Liam Liam Liam so fast
